Nb2O5 nanoparticles embedding in graphite hybrid as a high-rate and long-cycle anode for lithium-ion batteries

Lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)have exhibited extraordinary prospects due to their high energy and power density.However,the future development of LIB sis largely impeded by poor rate performance and cycling stability of the graphite anode.Here,we demonstrate a practical niobium pentoxide and graphite(Nb2O5/G)hybrid anode for high-performance LIBs via the scalable high-energy ball milling method.The as-prepared Nb2O5/G anode shows fast charging capability due to outstanding electrochemical kinetics from the surface pseudocapacitive insertion reaction of Nb2O5.Therefore,compared with pure graphite,the optimized 10%-Nb2O5/G hybrid anode(WNb2O5∶ Wgraphite=10∶90)exhibited high rate capacity of 270.0 mAh·g-1 at the current density of 2.0C(1.0C=372 mA.g-1)and high reversible capacity of 339.7 mAh·g-1 at 1.0C,together with better cyclic stability(340 cycles).This work provides an effective route toward LIBs with high rate and long cycle for a broad range of applications.
