INTRODUCTION The α subunit of the stimulatory G protein (Gsα) is a ubiquitously expressed protein encoded by the GNAS gene (GNAS complex locus; GNAS, OMIM *139320), that couples cell surface receptors to adenylyl cyclase to stimulate cAMP production after ligand/ receptor binding.
