INTRODUCTION Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) remains the most common malignant tumor of the lip and oral cavity and the 18th most prevalent neoplasm worldwide in 2020;1 it generally begins with epithelial hyperplasia and continues through dysplasia and carci-noma in situ, eventually progressing to invasive carcinoma2 (Fig. S1).
